Dr. Kock-Yee Law, Founder & CEO, Research and Innovative Solutions, Penfield, New York


Dr. Kock-Yee Law, Founder & CEO of Research and Innovation Solutions retired early from Xerox to pursue his passion in research, education and mentorship. The goal in his "second career" is to have fun by helping others succeed and facilitate more and better technologies to enrich humanity. Research and Innovative Solutions is a global provider of technical advices and education services to the high-tech industry.

Dr. Law has been an extremely prolific scientist. He has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and filed over 100 US patent applications of which 75 were granted. He has spoken before numerous professional society meetings. Recently, Dr. Law has been active in the NSTI Nanotech Conference. He was co-organizer and chair for the Nanostructured Coatings, Surfaces and Films Symposium at Nanotech 2012.

Throughout the years, Dr. Law has conducted research in many different fields. His latest interest is in Nanotechnology, particularly micro, nanostructured surfaces, and the phenomena of wetting, adhesion and self-cleaning. He co-invented a self-cleaning polymer coating that is currently being implemented at Xerox. Dr. Law has also worked with nanomaterials and nanocomposites and was a world renowned scientist in the 1990's for his work in organic photoconductors, electronic spectroscopy and charge transfer phenomena.

Dr. Kock-Yee Law, Founder & CEO, Research and Innovative Solutions

Dr. Law started acquiring people, project and program management skills in the mid-1990's. In 1999, he ventured into product development. He championed global collaboration (with Fuji Xerox) and led cross organization teams to successfully develop office color printer technologies for Xerox products. Dr. Law has since become a competent practitioner in technology productization and innovation. He is a certified Lean-Six-Sigma Black Belt and is familiar with various quality and lean tools.

Dr. Law earned his BSc in Chemistry at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and his PhD in Photo-organic Chemistry from The University of Western Ontario. In the spirit of continuous learning, Dr. Law also completed executive training courses at the California Institute of Technology on: "Management of Technology Innovation" in 2003 and "Strategic Marketing of Technology Products" in 2005.
